How to get a job at Google (or anywhere), in 3 easy steps:
1) search for the name of the job you like, in the area you live (or want to live)
2) filter by the company name you'd like to join
3) lookup who you know on LinkedIn, and request an intro
... voila :)

Okay, so the new SimplyHired.com features are now live on the site:
- search within results + filters + lists
- (by city, by distance, by job type, by company, etc)
- 5-star ratings for your job (but what are the stars for?)
now i can finally go home and do my taxes... 3 hours to spare even!

Russell Beattie and Mike Rowehl wow the 106 Miles crowd with the latest news from the mobile explosion (BOOM!) happening around the world.
Russ sez there are currently 1.3B (b!) mobile devices worldwide, compared to only ~600-700M computers. however, he also noted the platform / device / carrier fragmentation is significant.
ultimately, it was determined the biggest development platform for mobile was really SMS, with the possibility of XHTML / WAP 2.0 emerging as a standard on perhaps 400M devices (and ~100M US).
all of this went way over my head of course, but i did impress a few folks by guessing close to the #'s on overall devices, and also by making a few smart remarks about not using Silicon Valley for your user survey sampling ;)

So here it is: i've been working on a startup salary since January, and Saya is taking time off from doing recording work for the next 6 months to be a mom. While the last 3 years at PayPal/eBay have most certainly been kind, the next few may be a good bit leaner -- at least until SimplyHired becomes a bazillion dollar company ;)
In the meantime, if anyone wants to contribute to us po' folk here in Redwood City, here's the baby registry wish list for Junior (name tbd).
btw, Diapers are *always* welcome -- although we may figure out cloth diapers in the future, right now we're still first-timers and we're planning on using disposables. if anyone has recommendations we're open to suggestion.
