Topix Gets Paid

Topix.net agreed to sell a 75% stake in its business to 3 large newspaper publishers. 

Gannett, Tribune, and Knight-Ridder -- the same collective who jointly own job site CareerBuilder.com, as well as other online assets such as ShopLocal.com, Cars.com, and Apartments.com -- each will acquire a 25% ownership interest.

The terms of the deal were not disclosed, and there appears to be some discrepancy in the guesstimated valuation of the remaining 25% equity held by the 9 Topix.net employees.  Respective takes by Susan Mernit, Bambi Francisco, John Battelle, and WebProNews.

Regardless, i'd have to say those folks did well.  Nice job Chris & team :)
