On the way over to Tokyo, i read a terrific book about Muhammed Yunus and the Grameen Bank, called Banker to the Poor: Micro-Lending and the Battle Against World Poverty (order online from (Amazon).
If you haven't heard of the Grameen Bank, it's simply one of the greatest bootstrapping stories in the past hundred years. Started with only $27 by Bangladeshi economics professor Muhammed Yunus, the Grameen Bank is now a $2.5+ billion dollar economic enterprise that has made loans to millions of disadvantaged poor in over 50 countries.
fascinating book, amazing man, tremendous organization. highly recommended. great companion book to the Mystery of Capital by Hernando de Soto.
