went to the orkut launch party on Friday night, ran into a few geeks of note.

Carl Page (nee eGroups) is working on a cool new startup called ZVue developing a sweet little personal video player device for "handheld entertainment" (no, not *that* kind of handheld entertainment, you slimeball).   think iPod for video.

He was wearing one around his neck (along with a Google pen, courtesy of brother Larry), pretty cool looking toy:

only $99 -- just bought one online yesterday, should be here by Friday.

(* interesting folks, the Page brothers -- smart, low-key, friendly, if a bit reserved at times.  so refreshing to see entrepreneurs start great companies, and still remain nice people... i like that :)
