About 500 Hats & 500 Startups

I wear many hats as an advisor for several startups and non-profits.

Recently, i've started a new seed fund & incubator program called 500 Startups, where i am the Founder & General Partner.  For more info on that company, please check out the website or my bio. Although 500 Hats used to be the primary vehicle for my personal advising and investing, it will now take a back seat to my 24x7x365 job at 500 Startups.

FYI, the name "500 Hats" refers to the many hats entrepreneurs wear as they get a new startup off the ground.  It's also a reminder to work on identifying all those hats, find talented people to wear them productively, and gradually take each hat off & transfer them to other team members to help the business grow.

and yes, there is a connection to the Dr. Seuss book "The 500 Hats of Bartholomew Cubbins"...  I've been a fan since about the age of 3.
lastly, there's one more reference to my habit of wearing a variety of chapeau while playing ultimate frisbee around the SF bay area, sometimes while wearing a clown costume... but that's another story for another time.
