If you want to learn how to kitesurf in Santa Cruz, you should check out http://www.sckitesurfing.com/. I took lessons at Waddell Creek, my instructor's name was Hollywood and it was clear that he had been teaching kiting for a number of years with tons of knowledge and made learning kiteboarding a great experience.
